John Wing (Jr.) is a Canadian comedian and author from Sarnia, Ontario. He is of Irish-Italian descent and attended Central Collegiate High School while in Sarnia. He is married (Dawn Greene, 1989) and has two children (Rachel and Isabel). His books include Cup of Nevermind: New Poems (1998), –And the Fear Makes Us Special (2000), None of This is Probably True (2002), Ventriloquism for Dummies: Life as a Comedian (2002), Excuses: Poems (2005), The Winter Palace: New and Selected Poems (2007), So Recently Ancient (2010), Almost Somewhere Else (2012), Why-Shaped Scars (2014), and I’ll Be There Soon (2016). He has been a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno six times, and performed at nine Just For Laughs comedy festivals as well as the TV show Make Me Laugh and the Winnipeg Comedy Festival. Wing also had his own comedy series, Man, Woman and Child, on CBC Radio One in 2006. He was a contestant on America’s Got Talent (season 8) in 2013 and was eliminated in the semifinals.In April 2020, he debuted the podcast The Bad Piano Player, an exploration of American popular music from 1900-1960. As of September 2020 there were 24 downloadable episodes available in over 40 countries. He lives in Los Angeles
Kyle Brownrigg is an undeniable presence in Canadian comedy. Originally from Ottawa, Kyle now makes his home in Toronto where he is a local and touring comic. In June 2019 he was named ‘Best Breakout Artist’ at the Canadian Comedy Awards and was a finalist in SiriusXM’s Top Comic competition, the search for Canada’s next top comic, one of JFL42’s New Faces, and was selected as one of Canada’s Homegrown Comics for Just for Laughs. His debut comedy special “Kyle Brownrigg: Introducing Lyle” is now streaming on Crave. He is certainly someone you don’t want to miss.
Kyle is a Canadian Comedy Award winning comedian who has taped various stand-up performances for The Comedy Network, CBC Radio & Television. He has also performed at Just for Laughs, JFL42, JFL Northwest, The Halifax Comedy Festival, The Debaters, Bluesfest, The Sudbury Comedy Festival, The 905 Comedy Festival, We’re Funny That Way Comedy Festival, Icebreakers Comedy Festival and was a finalist in Sirius XM’s Top Comic Competition; a nationwide search for Canada’s next top comic.
Lisa Baker – Born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Lisa developed a sharp wit and sense of humor that Newfoundlanders are known for. After starting a professional stand-up career on the island, she moved to Alberta while maintaining her Newfie Princess status. Lisa has been featured multiple times on CBC’s LOL and The Debaters, and has performed at the YYComedy Festival in Calgary and Just For Laughs Northwest. Lisa has been burning up TikTok and recorded two albums in one year, “To Completion” and “Super Newfie”, both of which are currently being featured on SiriusXM. She has done three cross country tours in the last year, and has just filmed her first series.
Simone Holder – Since performing her first set in September 2019, Simone Holder has performed throughout Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia. In September 2021 she won the “Mike MacDonald Summer Comedy Competition” held at Yuk Yuk’s Ottawa becoming the first woman of colour and the second woman to win. On May 5, 2022, she performed in the Just for Laughs International Comedy Festival showcase held at Yuk Yuk’s Ottawa. In April 2022 she was a part of an Ottawa, all-woman comedy showcase and compilation album recording called “Morally Bankrupt” by Howl & Roar Records (due out ~ December 2022).She made her comedy festival debut in March 2022 at the Crackup Comedy Festival held in Ottawa, Cornwall, and Pembroke.Known for her soft-spoken delivery, sweet demeanour, and hilarious, unexpected punchlines, Simone is quickly making a name for herself in the local comedy scene.
Michael Lifshitz – Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Michael was born with a condition called Multiple Congenital Musculoskeletal Abnormalities. In addition to wearing an artificial leg, he walks with a cane and uses a wheelchair for longer distances. Contrary to what many would believe possible, he became a chartered accountant and also obtained a MBA from Edinburgh Business School. Today, in addition to continuing a successful career in finance and accounting, he uses motivational speaking, comedy and writing to not only educate people as to what people with disabilities can do, but to also inspire them to overcome their own challenges, because after all, as Michael says: “We all face challenges in life…mine just get me better parking spots.”
Nicole Etitiq – Inuk comedian from Iqaluit Nunavut. She has hosted Alianait music festival and been a part of some youth empowerment gatherings and a regular performer in the Canadian North Arctic Comedy Festival and performed in the Crack Comedy Festival in Ottawa, Pembroke, and Cornwall in March 2022.
Nuka Fennel – Aurora Whorealis is a Drag performer based out of Iqaluit Nunavut. She is known for her quick humour, which tends to keep people on their toes, her legs which are strong and toned from outrunning cops and ability to dissociate completely whenever something important is being said.
By day Aurora goes by Nuka Fennell who is a local activist, chef and comedian who is passionate about building capacity and giving performance spaces to local 2SLGBTQIA+ people. They are a nonbinary trans person who uses they/them pronouns and sexually they identify as “The reason your parents are now divorced”.
